Hi, it's John,
First, a warm (though not here in Virginia where I live) welcome to more than 630 new subscribers to the BeliefBusters Report. There are 16 previous reports in the "library" and you can access them HERE. Please, make the time to check them out. There's lots of value there for you.
Here's BeliefBusters Report 17 and once again I'm focusing on the work of one person. This time Ray Dodd, author of two truly "gotta' read" books (and I am reading both now), BeliefWorks and The Power of Belief.
Ray is the real deal. I'm learning a lot from his work— and much of it is fresh and new for me. Ray is a student of don Miguel Ruiz, M.D. who authored the best-seller The Four Agreements and much of Ray's work on beliefs leads with the idea of beliefs being things we agree to.
I admire and appreciate Ray's views on fear, love, what's behind many of our beliefs, which he calls "the prize," and much more. This Report features two articles by Ray in PDF and a 30 minute radio interview with Ray and the folks from Beyond Reason.
To learn more about Ray and have access to a host of excellent material free, please visit his website here: BeliefWorks.net
Brief "news" item before I begin. We're working on a Special Offer that combines the 13 week BeliefBusters Course PLUS a FREE three-month Membership in the BeliefBusters Inner Circle. It's not ready yet. Next week. You'll be the second to know.
Here's what's here for you in Report 17…

A Quote About Belief
Everything you do is based on all the agreements you have made with yourself. To support the beliefs you would like to have, design a new framework of agreements.
— Ray Dodd
Rather than constructing a set of core values and never addressing the framework
of agreements, personal or collective, that is operating powerfully and invisibly
below the surface, take the time to discover what beliefs are running the show and
design new agreements that support the outcome you want. Your structure should be a
reliable filter for all your decisions. If you know what you want, then your framework
of agreements should support that.

Fear Works, But Love Works Better
Choosing love is simply accepting not-fear as the beacon to guide you in how to proceed. Both love and fear can propel you to the same course of action, but fear causes suffering.
I recently had a discussion with a group of students at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida who had read my book, The Power of Belief. Their perspective was refreshing and it was a lively conversation.
Quite a few of the students had a strong objection to the statement:
"What is really true is that in every moment of your life you have done the best you could. As much as the Demon of Perfection argues to the contrary, it is not possible in the moments that have passed you could have done any better. You get it when you get it. You realize something the minute you realize it and not one minute before."
They argued that this is just an excuse for poor performance.
If you make a mistake, if you screw-up, if you ignore what you are responsible for you should feel guilty and be punished.
No doubt, if we go out and play when there is work to be done (like ignoring homework and risk failing a class) or do a poor job, or don't pay attention and make a mess of things, it creates problems. But invoking a non-stop dialog in your head of worry and self-punishment never actually solves anything. It may launch you into action, but it's action driven by fear. » (To read the rest of the article, please click the PDF icon below.)

The Secret behind "The Secret"
The Law of Attraction simply states that what you focus on is what you create... What rules the focus of our attention is often what we have agreed to believe.
Everyone is talking about the movie, "The Secret." It is been on Oprah and Larry King. On vacation last week it seemed as if we heard "Secret" conversations almost everywhere we went.
"The Secret" is primarily about the Law of Attraction. Written about many times in many ways, the Law of Attraction simply states that what you focus on is what you create— what you put out is what you get back. The movie: "The Secret" states that to harness the Law of Attraction (LOA) you must follow three steps—
Ask, Believe & Receive
Easy to do? Perhaps? For most of us however the most difficult step is to believe. You see, belief is much more than what we think is true. Often what we say we believe is merely an opinion - a fabrication of the mind. What we really believe is what we have no doubt about.
For example, you could say to yourself— "I believe I will be successful." But what happens when there are setbacks, or challenges? What do you say to yourself, or out-loud, when things don't work out as expected? Does your behavior and align perfectly with what you say you believe? » (To read the rest of the article, please click the PDF icon below.)

Belief Works Interview with Ray Dodd
from Beyond Reason with Teddy Bart and Karlen Evans

The key lies in recognizing our beliefs and separating them from who we truly are. The power to change is within our grasp. A conversation with a man who can show you how…
